Sunday February 18th 2018. Crude Oil prices have settled for the time being withlittle movement being noticed over the last 2 days. OPEC’s decision and rhetoric surrounding further production cuts has had little or no reaction in the market place as yet. OPEC has over the last 30 years had too much control over oil prices at the expense of importing countries. It looks like pay back time as the US and China look to wrestle oil price control from the cartel. China will start floating oil futures in exchange for reducing US trading deficit. Brent Crude has risen by $0.51 or 0.79% to $64.84. WTI, is $61.68 up $0.34 or 0.55%. The #heatingoil price has also risen and is now at $1.9104 up $1.88 or 0.99% which has already had a n effect on the UK donmestic heating oil price.
The UK #heatingoil market price has fallen steadily since 1st January 2018 except for some hiccups in price in February. The trend is clearly downward and our prediction of 48ppl made last week seems with hind sight a little ambitious as we are currently at 48.60ppl. Wales saw an decrease of 1.24ppl to 48.23ppl with a 7 day average of 48.08ppl. In Northern Ireland prices fell by 0.07ppl to 49.16ppl with a 7 day average of 49.28ppl.
